Deadly gang wars has Cape Flats community too scared to 'step outside'

TWO more people have been shot resulting in one being killed on Wednesday night in Lavender Hill with the community under siege as gang violence continues.

Residents say that on Wednesday night there was a helse geskietery between the Fast Guns and the Mongrels.

Steenberg police are investigating a case of murder after an alleged member of the Fast Guns was shot and killed in Chapel Road.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg reports: "Steenberg police responded to a complaint of a shooting in Chapel Road, Lavender Hill on Wednesday evening, 14 May 2025, at about 7pm and upon arrival on the scene they found the body of a 37-year-old man on the pavement who sustained gunshot wounds to his head.

"The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The motive for the attack is believed to be gang-related. The suspect/s are yet to be arrested. Steenberg detectives are investigating a murder case."
