'Blaze' at top of iconic landmark just orange net
FIRE crews were called to Blackpool Tower yesterday after a flood of 999 calls saying it was ablaze - only for the "flames" to turn out to be a bundle of orange netting blowing around.
Witnesses described a scene of "absolute chaos" as six fire engines and a specialist climbing team rushed to save the landmark following the reports.
