BROOK BACKS PACE ACE BAKER TO DELIVER

ENGLAND will unleash their latest 90mph speedster Sonny Baker on South Africa at Headingley this afternoon.

The 22-year-old, who took a hat-trick against the Northern Superchargers in this summer's Hundred for Manchester Originals, will make his full England debut in the first game of the three-match ODI series.

Harry Brook describes Baker as an “out there” character who drinks bone broth daily to guard against injury and carries a notebook with him to jot down observations on everything from opponents to ground dimensions.

But it is his pace rather than his peculiarities which has turned England’s heads.

“He’s been awesome in The Hundred,’ said Brook, England’s white-ball captain.
