Rodgers in Almaty letdown

CELTIC manager Brendan Rodgers admitted it was a "huge blow" to miss out on a fourth consecutive Champions League campaign after a shock defeat in Kazakhstan.

The Scottish champions reached the knockout phase last season, but could not score over 210 minutes of their play-off and lost 3-2 on penalties after Adam Idah, Luke McCowan and Daizen Maeda had efforts saved.

Rodgers said: "It's very frustrating. We showed a glimpse of what we can do at this level, but we haven't been able to do enough over these two games.
