Williams so excited by his bargain buy

FORGET glossy brochures, bargain buy Quinault is the only advert Stuart Williams needs for his training business.

The likeable sprinter first exited the stalls in his name with a mark of 59 and has raced all the way up to the top tier.

His profile features six straight wins in handicaps, a Listed hat-trick and the Group Three Criterion Stakes which booked his return ticket to York for Saturday's Group One Sky Bet City Of York Stakes.

The winning bid of £25,000 in the sales ring at Tattersalls in October 2022 looks a pretty good investment now.

"He's a really nice-looking, well-bred horse," said Williams, whose stable star is from a late developing German family.
