Top stopper Antti proves that age is just a number

WHEN a goalkeeper goes viral on social media it is rarely for a good reason.

They have either thrown one into their own net, tried a Cruyff turn and fallen on their backside or collided with a goalpost.

Not Antti Niemi though. He did nothing wrong and is still the subject of one of the internet's favourite clips of all time.

So given we are celebrating all things Finnish in Foreign Legion during this international break it seems fitting to revisit an all-time radio classic from the early 2000s.

Former Manchester United star Arthur Albiston was hosting a show on TalkSport and took a call from a Hearts fan who wanted to discuss Scotland boss Craig Brown’ goalkeeping options.

Caller: “I don't know why, for at least three seasons, he’s been ignoring Antti Niemi”

Albiston: “Antti Niemi, for Scotland?”

Caller: “Aye”
