DAVID MOYES hardly exuded confidence in Everton's ability to get the players in they need.

The sight of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall undergoing a medical, though, will give the Toffees boss some comfort.

The £28m midfielder from Chelsea is a much-needed addition and shows signs that the club's recruitment team and new sporting structure are finally getting into gear.

But they need plenty more with the season now just over a week away. Moyes knows it, too. He's expressed concern more than once on tour this summer about their business - or lack of - in the summer window.

"I think there will be deals," he said on Sunday night after a 2-2 draw with Manchester United in Atlanta.

"I think we're getting much closer. But I thought that four or five weeks ago as well. We're getting near the tickly bit and we've got to get some things done."
