Ryan set to rule on King's

IT'S an early kick off on Cup Final day, so I'm hoping KING'S GAMBIT (12.50) is a penalty kick in the Aston Park Stakes run over a mile and a half at Newbury.

The Harry Charlton-trained four-year-old showed his liking for the course and distance when landing the London Gold Cup on this day last season. He has been gelded since and with the great Ryan Moore in the saddle, what more do we want?

As a half-brother to the brilliant Baaeed, WALEEFY (1.05) is bred to be a lot better that an 87-rated horse and I’m sure he will run a big race in the BetMGM Handicap run over seven furlongs at Newmarket.

His illustrious sibling improved as a four-year-old, so the Maktoum family will be hopeful he follows suit when he rocks up under Cieren Fallon, who rode him to victory at Doncaster last season.

He looked in need of the run on his seasonal bow at Goodwood, where he ran as if this longer trip would see him in a better light.
