Champions League hopes are dying after Foxes revival

- JOHN RICHARDSON

FOREST SLUMP

LEICESTER'S relegation party is in danger of snuffing out Forest's Champions League ambitions.

With nine minutes of normal time remaining the old City Ground was shaking in anticipation of the big European nights returning.

Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood had given Nuno Espirito Santo's side the lead after they had trailed to Conor Coady's first Leicester goal.

But the Foxes, whose fans made the short trip complete with beach balls and fancy hats to enjoy an afternoon in the sunshine, had other ideas.

They were definitely not on the beach as they grew in confidence - buoyed by their victory last week against Southampton - and, when Jamie Vardy nudged the ball to Facundo Buonanotte, the Brighton loanee wriggled his way into the Forest box before curling his shot past Matz Sels.

Forest, who looked not long ago to have a top-five slot sewn up, now find themselves in seventh spot with two games left.

And it could have been worse as 15-year-old Jeremy Monga, taking time off from sitting his GCEs, forced Sels into a twisting save in added time.
