AS tends to happen during cold winter, rats have moved into places they can stay warm.

Unfortunately, despite extensive measures to stop it, this means hundreds of pounds of damage will be done to the electric wiring in the walls of my house.

Still, they are wildlife, so let’s look at some interesting facts about the pests who keep me awake.

Brown rats are everywhere there are humans. They have adapted to live in any habitat from arid desert to frozen mountains, and every continent except Antarctica.

They are trouble enough on land, but out on islands they do the most natural damage.
