Southgate hails mind gains of Three Lions

GARETH SOUTHGATE reckons England have developed the DNA of winners.

But he has told his Three Lions they have achieved nothing and have to land a trophy to prove him right.

England have made it to their third semi-final in the last four major tournaments.

The penalty shoot-out win over Switzerland will see them meet Holland in a semi-final showdown in Dortmund on Wednesday.

Southgate's stars are knocking on the door once again in the latter stages of a finals.

And the manager reckons his players will not be satisfied until they have finally walked through it, to find their footballing Holy Grail.

He said: "The difference is we arrive in a quarter-final but we're not satisfied with that.

"There is definitely a mindset shift in what we feel is acceptable as a team, in terms of where we want to end up.

"Now that it's knockout football the margins are so fine, as we've seen again.
