A chiller thriller puts UK on alert for snow and ice

SCANDINAVIA'S "freeze of the century" is coming to Britain with snow in the south today as a 12-day chill with major whiteouts starts.

The 800-mile-wide "Scandi shiver" will see some roads ice over after floods, as extreme windchill makes daytime temperatures feel like OC and the mercury dips as low as -12C at night.

Rush-hour chaos threatens south London this morning as the Met Office warned of up to an inch of snow and ice, with more flurries on the cards tonight.
