His move to Manchester City from Leeds in a £50million deal in 2022 has wrecked his career.

He went from being one of England's brightest stars in their charge to a Euros final, to one of the most faded ones in English football.

Farmed out to West Ham and Ipswich because Guardiola didn’t want him, Phillips is now back in The Etihad’s deep freeze, facing four months in exile as he battles to recover from an Achilles injury.
