Smash victim's family label selfish killers 'rats' for failing to admit they caused the tragedy

- BY BILLY GADDI

A DEVASTATED son has hit out at the two men who killed his mum in a high-speed horror crash.

Shona McKinlay's son Callum branded Rory Nimmo, 26, and John Clark, 43, "rats" after the pair were found guilty in court of causing her death by dangerous driving.

Nimmo and Clark tore along the A70, near Ayr, as they raced each other at 111mph before Nimmo lost control and ploughed head-on into Shona's white Renault Kangoo van in October 2022.

She left behind Callum, daughter Tahlar Grant and fiance Andy Muir.

Reacting to Wednesday's verdict at the High Court in Glasgow, Callum slammed both men for their reckless driving before making an emotional statement about living life without her.

He said: "It has been a long, hard three years and I still haven't gotten over this feeling. The rats will get what they get.

"It's a joke they were even dragging their heels."

He added: "I love and miss you, Mum. I just want life to be the way it was before."

Tahlar's partner, Jonny Scott, also did not hold back as he blasted Nimmo and Clark for robbing Shona's family of a woman he described as a "devoted gran and mum".

He said: "Both rat b******* have been found guilty. Three years to get to this moment today.

"What cowards and complete and utter s****b*** you are to not own up to your own wrongdoing."

The court heard Nimmo's Audi TT was extensively modified and running on tyres below the legal tread depth.
