He calls killer DC riots 'minor' | Aid for LA blaze may dry up

DONALD Trump has said attacks on police during the deadly January 6 Capitol riots were minor and that he may end federal aid to fight California's wildfires.

Speaking to TV host Sean Hannity from the Oval Office, the US President defended his decision to pardon 1500 people convicted in connection with the attack, including more than 200 jailed for felony assaults on police.

Four people died during the 2021 riot and a police officer who was assaulted, Brian Sicknick, died the next day after suffering two strokes.

Four officers died by suicide in the seven months following the rioting.

More than 140 police officers were injured during the seven-hour siege but Trump said of rioters: "Nobody's ever been treated so badly.
