Bloom watches on as Jambos shrug off Storm Floris to blow away below-par Dons
HEARTS gave Tony Bloom the perfect Tynecastle debut as the Jambos got off to a winning Premiership start against Aberdeen.
Just 24 hours after the new near £10million investor spoke of his bold plans for winning the title within 10 years, he watched a Graeme Shinnie own goal and Stuart Findlay header earn Derek McInnes side the spoils.
It was not pretty at times but Hearts got the job done to continue the feelgood factor around Gorgie.
Tynie erupted just 11 minutes in when Hearts stormed ahead through Shinnie’s misfortune.
Claudio Braga got to the byeline and found Oisin McEntee whose close-range header was beaten away Dimitar Mitov.
Cammy Devlin fired in the loose ball and his shot was partially blocked but Harry Milne kept the attack alive and his low cross into the six-yard box came off the unfortunate Shinnie.
Hearts had their tails up and were unlucky not to double their lead moments later when Milne crashed a drive off the bar from the corner of the box.
Aberdeen had not offered much going forward during the early stages but came close to drawing level in the 16th minute.
Nicolas Milanovic’s bouncing cross came to Kusini Yengi and the forward showed great improvisation to flick an effort off a post.
But it was Hearts who were aggrieved they did not add to their lead before the break.
