Struggling Poundland shutters 15 stores

POUNDLAND closed 15 stores yesterday in a blow to struggling high streets.
The budget retailer has been sold for £1 to investment firm Gordon Brothers, the former owner of Laura Ashley. As a result, Poundland announced that it will permanently shut 68 of its branches.
The move came as fashion accessories chain Claire's went into administration, putting its 278 UK stores at risk.
Poundland closed down 10 stores on August 10, and a further 15 shops closed their doors for good yesterday.
