A SCOTS expat died alongside his friend after his surfboard snapped off the coast of Australia.

Calum McCombie, 36, was surfing at Frankston Beach, 30 miles from Melbourne, when his board split in two during hazardous conditions at sea.

His pal Nicho Muggleton, 43, raced to his rescue as he struggled in the water. But Nicho was also overwhelmed by the fierce waves.
