Former Pittodrie chief Gunn reckons top target Horneland will be a hit with Dons

FORMER Aberdeen sporting director Steven Gunn reckons Eirik Horneland could be just what the club need to get heading in the right direction again.

We broke the news last week that the Norwegian is the leading contender to replace Jimmy Thelin.

And Gunn has revealed Horneland has been on the radar for a while.

Peter Leven has been in interim charge since Thelin left on January 4.

But Horneland, who parted company with St Etienne at the end of January, travelled to the Granite City for talks and is now mulling over his next move.

Dons are confident of agreeing a deal for the Norwegian, who is a close friend of Aberdeen sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel.
