Charlie warns Wilfried pressure he will be under at Celtic is like nothing he's ever experienced

- SCOTT BURNS

WILFRIED NANCY has already proved to be a winner with silverware at each staging post in his managerial career.

But Charlie Mulgrew has warned the pressure to keep it up at Celtic will be unlike anything he’s ever experienced.

Parkhead power brokers moved to make Nancy their top target after Brendan Rodgers’ hasty in-season departure.

CF Montreal and now Columbus Crew have seen what the 48-year-old can do when handed the reins.

However, the everyday demands of keeping the Hoops top of the pile in Scotland is a pressure cooker on another level.

The former Scotland defender knows it will be an eyeopener and far more demanding and different from the more laid-back ways Nancy is used to across the Atlantic.

And Mulgrew said: “It is a completely different level at Celtic.

“He is now coming to a pressured environment, where he will never have witnessed that intensity. I can guarantee that.

“You never know what that is going to be like until you are actually in the job.

“It is something that he will have to learn how to handle because everyone in Scotland knows the demands that come with being the Celtic manager.”

The former Scotland defender does believe Nancy could be the perfect fit for his old club because he plays the Celtic way.

The Hoops are looking to finalise a deal for the Columbus Crew boss and his backroom team.

Mulgrew has delved closely into what the Scottish champions will be getting with their incoming boss and he reckons there is plenty to get excited about.
