Mum hits out at lenient sentence handed down to monster who preyed on young girl

- BY JOHN-PAUL CLARK

A MUM has blasted the 18-month sentence given to her daughter's paedophile abuser, saying “justice hasn't been served".

Liam Moir was found guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court last month of sexually assaulting the girl at an address in the city on her 12th birthday in 2023. He continued attacking her for more than five months.

The 34-year-old was jailed for 18 months on September 24. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

The victim, now 14, only revealed what had been happening when the beast threatened to attack her three-year-old sister. Moir told the girl her mum wouldn't believe her, so she went to visit her gran and told her everything.

Speaking to the Record, the teen's mum said: “Considering the impact this has had on my daughter, the sentence is absolutely nothing. He probably won't even serve all of that and will be out walking the streets in less than a year.

“He is a disgusting man and as far as I am concerned he should be locked up forever so he can't hurt anyone else.
