MERCHANDISE SEIZURES AT VENUES AS FAKER MAKERS

ORGANISED crime groups are cashing in on Oasis-mania by selling millions of pounds worth of fake goods.

- BY MARK McGIVERN

Tens of thousands of T-shirts, hats and other gear have been made to cash in on the Oasis 2025 fervour - which hit Edinburgh at the weekend.

Official agents for Oasis merch have confiscated boxes containing counterfeit stock, targeting known criminals selling dodgy gear around Murrayfield.

A source close to the band's management said: "There have been significant seizures of gear in Cardiff and Manchester, with the involvement of trading standards.

"The same crime groups have, inevitably, been up in Scotland, where there hasn't been the same level of trading standards response but there have been teams on the ground from the band's intellectual property people who are authorised to make seizures.

"Essentially there is a game of cat and mouse going on. The guys at the front of the criminal operation will get the stuff up in vans and they are the ones who run the risk of having their entire stock taken and criminal charges. They could get the jail for their part because brushing with law enforcement is an occupational hazard.
