Knocked off perch

MY LAST trip turned from a hopeful evening rise on a rainbow loch into a bid at breaking my perch on the fly PB... once I'd waded through the little stripey wasps keen to take whatever went past their faces.

There are days when pesky fish species come along and it seems like your target species has disappeared from the loch.

Thankfully, I'm not fishing against the clock or competing for prizes very often so it's good to get something on board.

There are definitely some phases when it comes to a bit of bycatch though.

You start off happy to get some bites and wet your net and then get a little annoyed and move out of the spot.

Some more casts, some more spots and nothing but bycatch has you getting frustrated or angry at them.

And at some point you might just resign yourself to your fate and declare yourself a specimen angler of whatever it is that's decided to show up.
