I thought my rib pain was only a pulled muscle but it was cancer

Diagnosis after docs gave painkillers

A WOMAN was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer after suffering what she thought was a pulled muscle in her rib.

Lorna McNaughton, 45, had pain in her rib and went for an X-ray which showed nothing sinister. Doctors thought she had pulled a muscle and gave her painkillers but the pain continued.

Lorna then found a lump in her right breast and was sent for a mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy.

The results showed the cancer had spread to her ribs and lymph nodes and Lorna was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer.
