JEREMY Vine has told a jury he had to explain to his children that Joey Barton had publicly called him a paedophile.

The broadcaster said posts on X by the former footballer left him trying to explain to his two daughters the resulting “cloud of filth”.

Referring to repeated allegations he was a paedophile by the retired Manchester City midfielder, Vine said: “I was beginning to get very worried that Barton had got this obsession with me, with labelling me to his many followers.

“At this point I was really alarmed. I just had a sense he was not going to stop. I'm a faithful husband.

“These are disgusting actions. It's a despicable thing to say.
