Holders already facing big final

KEVIN NISBET admits Aberdeen need to approach their clash with Motherwell like a final if they are to have any chance of retaining the Scottish Cup.

The Dons lifted the trophy back in May but since then, things haven't gone to plan.

Jimmy Thelin was sacked and their season has continued to stutter.

Aberdeen still harbours hopes of making the top six but that dream is now fading and the cup looks like their best hope of glory.

Nisbet said: "Yes, I think it's a cup final. Every game is a cup final now but Wednesday is really important. We're the holders of the Cup.

"We've got to go and win that and get into another semi-final.

"It's a massive game and the boys need to step up.

"Hopefully, Pittodrie will be full and the fans get behind us, and we go and try and get into the quarter-final." Dunfermline away awaits the winners of tomorrow night's Pittodrie clash in the next round.
