He is dangerous ...and there is no way of knowing when or if ever that will cease to be the case

A SECURITY guard jailed for plotting to kidnap, rape and murder TV presenter Holly Willoughby has lost a legal bid to reduce his sentence.

Gavin Plumb got life with a minimum term of 16 years in July last year.

At a hearing yesterday, barristers for Plumb said his sentence was manifestly excessive but this was dismissed.

Lord Justice Edis, sitting with Justice Martin Spencer and Justice Norton, found the decision to pass a life sentence was unimpeachable.

He said: "This is a case where the offender clearly is dangerous and where there is no way of knowing when or if ever that will cease to be the case."

Lord Justice Edis told the court that the offences were so serious a life sentence was justified.

He added: "They were horrifying and contained graphic detail of what the applicant proposed to do to Holly Willoughby.
