RANGERS fans watching their heroes back home in Scotland hailed the players for their Europa League exploits despite a bitter penalty shoot-out defeat in Seville.

Thousands gathered in pubs and homes with fans partying on the streets on a historic night for the club.

There was heartbreak for fans after a Joe Aribo goal was cancelled out by a Rafael Borre equaliser - followed by a gut-wrenching penalty defeat.

But there was a feeling the club had done Scotland proud getting to the final.

Chris Sutherland, from the Isle of Bute, watched the game in Glasgow's Horseshoe bar. He said: "I am really disappointed but they got us here and that's what matters.

"It has been some journey so hats off to them, all of the players and staff.
