FRANK'S A LOT FOR WIN OVER RIVALS

THOMAS FRANK could not have asked for a better start to his reign as Tottenham manager after he masterminded a 1-0 win over Arsenal.

Spurs came out on top in the first North London derby to be staged outside the UK but it was not a typical preseason friendly.

The clash was played in front of a record-breaking crowd of 49,975 in Hong Kong the country's biggest football attendance in its history.

And it was decided in spectacular fashion by Pape Matar Sarr, who stunned the packed stands with a rocket from the halfway line.

Frank was delighted with the victory and how it sets the tone for his era. He said: "This was as positive a result as you can get in terms of reinforcing the messages.

"The team building and desire to defend was good. It's very pleasing to win my first North London derby.

"And you could not call that a friendly. People saw the desire from both teams and our determination to keep a clean sheet."

Spurs were impressive in the first-half and dug deep after the break.
