Gers have the chance to fire themselves back into Premiership title contention
-
THE obituaries were written for Rangers’ title hopes this season after the carnage of Russell Martin's reign.
The Ibrox giants were sitting eighth in the table when Martin was finally put out of his misery in early October and trailed runaway leaders Hearts by 11 points.
So it was easy to see why so many pundits and punters thought Gers had no chance of getting back into the Premiership title chase.
The bookies held that view as well and had Rangers at 7/1 for the crown after Danny Rohl took the reins from Martin.
I thought the former Sheffield Wednesday boss was a shrewd appointment and stuck a few quid on Gers at that generous price.
The German isn't a miracle worker and the scale of the task in hand has been highlighted by a League Cup semifinal loss to Celtic and humbling Europa League losses to Brann and Roma.
But Rohl has managed to steer his side to three successive wins in the Premiership and he has a great chance to take that tally to five, with Rangers at home to Livingston and Falkirk in their next two league fixtures.
