Donaldson loses out in Scottish Open bid

PERTH snooker star Scott Donaldson suffered agony as he failed to qualify for his home event.

The 31-year-old needed to win one qualifier to secure a Scottish Open place but slumped to a 4-1 loss to China's Gao Yang.

Donaldson won the first frame but Gao, 46 places lower in the rankings, won four-in-a-row to book his spot in Edinburgh.
