Sarwar in vow to create 1500 teaching assistants as he attacks Swinney's 'incompetence' in office
ANAS Sarwar has promised to deliver an extra 1500 classroom assistants if he becomes First Minister.
Around 20 per cent of the new recruits will help children with additional support needs.
Scottish Labour intends to make the SNP government's schools record an election issue.
Labour claims the number of ASN pupils has surged to 43 per cent of all kids while the number of specialist teachers has dropped by 19.5 per cent since 2010.
Sarwar said the classroom assistant boost will reduce teacher workloads and offer more oneto-one support.
He said: "Scotland's education system was once the envy of the world but under the SNP standards are slipping and children are falling through the cracks.
