Calls for crackdown as inmates boast of 'easy life' and play pranks on each other

- MARK MCGIVERN

LAGS at Scotland's most violent jail are posting TikTok videos of cell block parties to boast about their "easy time" inside.

The clips from privately run HMP Addiewell show prisoners guzzling "jail hooch" and others stupefied after taking mind-altering Spice.

In shocking footage passed to the Daily Record, another video shows an inmate having his head shaved while unconscious.

He also has tissue stuffed up his nose, which is set on fire by another man.

Another con appears to be under the influence while being dragged along the floor as other prisoners look on and laugh.

There were calls last night for a crackdown on lags at Addiewell, in West Lothian.

Scottish Lib Dem justice spokesman Liam McArthur MSP said: "The operators of Addiewell should be in the last-chance saloon." The videos were still viewable yesterday on TikTok, where an account hosting the content has almost 700 followers.

The footage makes clear that illegal mobile phones are being used freely at the jail.

A source at the jail, who highlighted the videos, said: "The videos show utter contempt for the jail management and the regime. Addiewell is being treated like a holiday camp.

"Prisoners have the freedom of the place to apparently brew up hooch and there is also clearly a supply line for class A drugs, like Spice, which has wreaked havoc in jails up and down the UK.

"It's no wonder Addiewell is seen to be the most violent and dangerous prison in Scotland." The TikTok account features drill music and has dozens of groups of cons partying in cells.
