Breast cancer detection gets a robot boost

TECHNOLOGY could soon help analyse NHS mammograms after a study showed artificial intelligence helped medics spot breast cancers better than humans on their own.

Currently, two radiologists are used to analyse the scan but the first clinical trial of national screening assisted by Al showed it stops cancers being missed.

A trial of 100,000 women in Sweden resulted in Al-assisted scans reducing breast cancer diagnosis in the years afterwards by 12 per cent - a key measure of effectiveness.
