Boss sold me on Livi before they went up

GRAHAM CAREY says it was nailed on he'd be wearing a Livingston shirt this season - the fact it's in the top flight is merely a bonus.

The Irish winger revealed boss Davie Martindale sold him on a switch from, relegated St Johnstone to Livi before they'd won promotion.

And Carey, who scored a wonder goal as Saints knocked Livi out of the Scottish Cup last season, admits he has been surprised by his new side's attacking flair.

The 36-year-old, one of 16 summer signings, said: “| knew | was leaving St Johnstone and when our season had finished, Gowser (Ryan McGowan) said to me, ‘The manager wants to speak to you’.

“We spoke and while they still had the playoff, the outcome of that didn’t really matter.
