Kettlewell 'pleased' as Buddies agree referee will be making the Cup calls

STUART KETTLEWELL is delighted VAR won't be in operation for Kilmarnock's Premier Sports Cup quarterfinal clash with St Mirren.

Both clubs have agreed not to use the video assistant for tomorrow night's last-eight showdown at Rugby Park.

Killie were stung by a controversial VAR call in their defeat to Celtic when referee John Beaton was sent to the monitor in added time and awarded a penalty as Lewis Mayo was penalised for handball.

But Kettlewell is relieved it will be the referee David Dickinson who will be making the calls tomorrow night.

He said: "I'm pleased there's no VAR but I'm consistent with what I'm saying.

"We've been given the option a number of times in these cup games. It goes between the two clubs to agree whether you have it or you don't.

"At the same stage against Dundee United last season we both agreed we'd rather we didn't have it if that was an option.
