Commentating TV icon hopes for Jambos joy after 86 agony

LEGENDARY commentator Archie Macpherson wants Hearts to win the league after being haunted by their cruel last-ditch loss of the title 40 years ago.

Archie was behind the mic in 1986 when the Jambos lost 2-0 away to Dundee which saw Celtic pip them to the championship.

He was accused of bias by former Parkhead director Michael Kelly after sympathising with the crying Hearts fans on the terraces.

Now Archie wants Hearts to finally take the title as they top the table in a titanic three-way battle with Celtic and Rangers.

Archie, 89, said: "The tragedy of my relationship with Hearts is I did both of their games where they lost the league on the last day.

"I did it when they played Kilmarnock in 1965 when Willie Waddell was the manager.

"Hearts just had to avoid losing by two goals and, of course, lost 2-0 at Tynecastle.
