Another case for Vera?

Brenda Blethyn wants sleuth return

BRENDA Blethyn has revealed that she would jump at the chance of a return as TV detective Vera.

The 79-year-old filmed her final scenes for the show last summer.

But Brenda returned to the northeast of England, where Vera was filmed, to promote her latest movie Dragonfly and the journey seemed to trigger a pang of nostalgia.

She said: "If they suddenly wanted to do a Vera special, I would be back like a shot."

There would be a technical hurdle though, as she admitted: "The set is gone now, so they would have to be creative with that."

Asked why she is so keen on a comeback for the wily detective, Brenda said: "I loved Vera and miss it.
