FRESH from conquering Europe, Paris St-Germain now have their sights set on world domination.
-
I was wary of backing PSG to win the Club World Cup before a ball was kicked as I thought they might ease off a bit after delivering the holy grail by winning the Champions League.
That impression was reinforced when Luis Enrique's men lost 1-0 to Botafogo in the group stage but that shock defeat seems to have roused them back into action.
A comfortable 2-0 win over Seattle Sounders saw them top the section on goal difference after Botafogo lost 1-0 to Atletico Madrid in their final match.
That proved to be something of a poisoned chalice for the Parisians as it landed them in the tougher half of the draw, with Inter Miami up next in the last 16.
All the hype before that encounter centred on Lionel Messi going up against his old club, with the world's greatest player having a point to prove after his time in the French capital ended in acrimony.
But the Argentine barely got a kick of the ball as PSG turned on the style in a ruthless first half, smashing four goals past a Miami side who were outclassed.
