Fears for offshore & city workers after collapse
TWO thousand Scots oil jobs are at risk after bosses at North Sea giant Petrofac filed for administration.
The company employs 1200 offshore and 800 at its base in Aberdeen.
Bosses revealed it had fallen into insolvency after a restructuring plan collapsed in the wake of a failed renewables contract in the Netherlands.
Petrofac yesterday told investors it has applied to the High Court to appoint administrators.
The firm employs more than 7000 workers globally, Petrofac said it will enter insolvency after Dutch electricity grid TenneT terminated a contract to build windfarms.
The company stressed the administration will affect the group's main holding company.
