Weekend washout likely as remnants of hurricane arrive

HURRICANE Gabrielle is moving towards Europe with 140mph winds, and heavy downpours are likely in the next few days, according to the Met Office.

Saturday will see much of Wales face some heavy downpours in the afternoon as a band of rain slowly pushes east, clearing most areas by Sunday afternoon, before turning brighter from the west.

Hurricane Gabrielle is anticipated to become ‘ex-Hurricane Gabrielle’ by the time it reaches Britain, although it could have some effect on our weather over the next week.
