Tributes to 'lovely lady' who died in bin truck collision

TRIBUTES have been paid to an 89-year-old woman who died after being hit by a council bin lorry.

Daphne Stallard died at the scene in Llandudno on Brookes Street, near Madoc Street, at around 9am on Monday.

A man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released under investigation, North Wales Police said. Conwy Council has confirmed one of its recycling vehicles was involved.

Daphne Stallard was the mother of Mary Stallard, the Bishop of Llandaff. In a statement, the Archbishop of Wales, Cherry Vann, said: “It was with the most profound shock and sorrow that I heard of the tragic death of Bishop Mary's mother, Daphne.
