'They couldn't have done a better job, it's spectacular'

EVERTON legend Trevor Steven believes the club could not have done a better job with the new stadium.

But he reckons the Blues’ future home needs something more to reach its potential.

Steven played during the most successful period in Everton's history, winning two League Championships, an FA Cup and European Cup-Winners’ Cup - scoring in the final of the latter as Rapid Vienna were beaten 3-1 in the 1985 final in Rotterdam.

The 61-year-old made 299 appearances and scored 60 goals for Everton and in addition to the honours he won under Howard Kendall, he lifted an additional eight domestic titles (seven in Scotland with Rangers and one in France with Olympique Marseille).

Speaking on the latest episode of Goodison Park: My Home, Steven said: “I don’t think they could have done a better job in terms of where it’s situated.

“The venue is spectacular, the design is iconic before it’s even opened its doors.
