Speed restriction imposed after tunnel fire now lifted

AN A55 speed restriction has been lifted weeks after a devastating fire in the westbound Conwy tunnel.

On June 19 a crane lorry caught fire, shutting Conwy tunnel in both directions.
This caused traffic chaos across the road network in the area. The eastbound tunnel reopened the next day while round the clock repairs also saw the westbound lanes back open within three days.
But work continued on the westbound tunnel, which has seen a number of overnight closures.
