SHEEP farmers in North Wales have been put on high alert after an unusual theft in a picturesque Eryri valley. Three expensive shearing machines were stolen from a farm shed in Nant Gwynant, regarded as amongst the most scenic places in Wales.

The theft occurred as the Wales team prepared for the Golden Shears, the pinnacle event of the shearing and wool-handing calendar.

Four men and two woman are currently in New Zealand to represent Wales in the 2026 World Championships in Masterton.

North Wales Police has confirmed it is investigating the thefts in Nant Gwynant, which sits below Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon).
