TANDY HOPING WALES ARE COMPETITIVE AGAIN

Repeat of Scotland effort can help us get result

STEVE Tandy believes if Wales can replicate their performance against Scotland in Dublin they will give themselves a chance of beating Ireland.

Ireland are firm favourites to overcome Wales tomorrow night but Tandy's side were much better against Scotland. Tandy has made three changes to his starting XV, with Dan Edwards replacing the injured Sam Costelow, James Botham coming in for Taine Plumtree in the backrow and Ellis Mee starting on the wing.

“We are at the point where we can go there and be competitive,” he said.

“That's where it is. If we are competitive and bring large parts of what we did against Scotland then I think we'll be in the game to get the result we all want.

“It’s going to be a different challenge. Last time we were away from home against England you look at the start we had.

“The emotional control going to Ireland is a different stress point for us but I think it is exciting and it will be a really good test for us on that development piece.”

Here is some more of what Tandy said in a press conference.

“I think he was obviously disappointed in not being picked against Scotland but the way he reacted was outstanding.

“He got behind the team and run the opposition plays but also you can see it has given them a little bit more energy. We want to create competition.

“I think that will push us on to be the team we want to be with that competition. He was excellent.
