Police catch dozen drivers in day on phones at wheel

A DOZEN drivers were caught using mobiles in a day, during a road safety operation.

It also saw another arrested on suspicion of drug driving and a knife seized.
Numeorus others were stopped for offences including driving without a seatbelt and defective tyres, during the operation in Flint on Thursday.
A North Wales Police statement said: “The road safety checks, which included roadside eyesight tests, were carried out by officers from the Roads Crime Unit as part of North Wales Police' commitment in keeping the roads safe for all.”
The operation resulted in:
■One male arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drugs after testing positive for cannabis at the roadside
■A PG9 prohibition notice on a vehicle after it was found to have defects
■20 TORS (Traffic Offence Reports) issued to motorists after they were caught driving without a seatbelt
