THE Cwpan Gary Speed, a new invitational tournament for Under-16 teams, will take place in North Wales later this month, honouring the legacy of one of the nation’s most popular footballing figures.

‘This event offers youth players the opportunity to experience competitive international football.

It is designed to celebrate the values that Speed stood for leadership, dedication, and pride in wearing the shirt.

Japan, Northern Ireland and Gibraltar will take part alongside Wales in this year’s tournament, with matches taking place in Ruthin Town, Buckley Town and Colwyn Bay between August 26-31.

‘The Wales squad will be managed by Adrian Harvie and features 22 players.
