SCHEME INCLUDES SPA AND WELLNESS COMPLEX ALONGSIDE FOOD HALL, ARTISAN MARKET AND EVENT STUDIOS

AN £8M investment is planned by the new owner of a landmark hotel on Anglesey (Ynys Môn).

Property developer Tom Edgar has outlined proposals to transform Hotel Cymyran near Llanfair y Neubwll into a multipurpose activity centre with added accommodation.

The headline plan is to create a spa and wellness complex with a "wild" open-air swimming pool. The aim is to purify the pool using UV light and reed bed recycling to produce crystal clear water.

Another feature is a planned food hall and artisan market on the site of existing horse stables to showcase local Welsh producers and makers.

If approved by Anglesey Council, the complex will also provide "event studios" and "creative spaces". There will also be a "living hub" to promote the local community, culture and nature.

Tom, 36, said buying and developing the hotel was a dream motivated not by equity but by "purpose and passion".

He said: "My vision is to create something special that is all about community but which will create opportunities for Ynys Môn and help fulfil the potential of North Wales.

"This development will bring jobs, tourism, collaboration and a space where the Welsh language is celebrated. This is more than a resort. It's a chance to reshape how people experience Ynys Môn."

Hotel Cymyran, near the runway at RAF Valley, is already a significant leisure complex that was developed from around 2000. It was placed on the market for £1.8m in summer 2023 as its owners wanted to retire. The price was cut to £1.5m in early 2024 in a bid to secure a sale.
