Moyes remains coy on future of match-winner

DAVID MOYES refused to offer any insight into the future of Carlos Alcaraz after his match-winning display.

The 22-year-old scored the only goal as Everton sealed an impressive victory at Champions League-chasing Newcastle United.

His glancing header was the highlight of a game in which he was crucial in both boxes, forcing Nick Pope into two good saves while blocking dangerous efforts from Alexander Isak and Harvey Barnes.

It was the latest influential display from the Argentine, who shone in the recent victory at Fulham and also scored the winner at Crystal Palace in February.

After the game, Moyes said of Alcaraz: "He scored a good goal and did a lot of good things for us today... he did well."

Asked whether he had done enough to secure a part in Everton's future, Moyes added: "Well, you'll need to wait and see like everybody else."

Alcaraz was one of 10 of the matchday squad either leaving Everton this summer or on a deal that could see them leave.
